Description
This photograph captures my very first visit to the renowned Important Bird Area (IBA) at Frank Lake. Seeking a compelling, intimate perspective, I spent the early morning sitting directly in the shoreline mud. This low viewpoint allowed me to position my lens at eye level with the waterfowl, creating a powerful sense of immersion in their world. As the sun cleared the horizon, it cast a dramatic backlight across the shallow waters. I waited for the perfect moment of movement to achieve strong subject separation. The intense morning light transformed the ripples in the shallow water into brilliant, golden bokeh in the foreground, beautifully framing the running Canada Goose while leaving the resident gulls softly blurred in the background.
