Description
An estimated 130,000 Sandpipers are resting at high tide along the Bay of Fundy on this particular day of August, according to the daily count of Sandpipers at the Interpretative Center. It is truly magical each summer to witness the huge flocks of Sandpipers that come to rest and feast before their nonstop 72 hour journey. The Bay of Fundy is their one stop. At high tide, like in this photo, they rest on the beach, looking like rocks. (Here we see a portion of the 130k). At low tide, they feast on mud shrimp to double their weight ahead of their migration. It is truly awe-inspiring!
