Description
A female barred owl sits atop a branch in the south end of Ottawa before she starts her evening hunt. The barred owl and her partner call these sections of a local urban forest home year-round because barred owls don't migrate. These birds of prey are hefty, but you'd never know it when they're in flight - they're almost noiseless.
